In 2000, I graduated from Texas State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. During my time in San Marcos while obtaining my degree I volunteered at the local Battered Womens Shelter. In December of 2004, I graduated from the University of Texas in San Antonio with a Masters of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology. As part of the degree program, I provided counseling to the terminally ill population and their loved ones thru Vitas Hospice. I continued volunteering after my graduation and was awarded Volunteer of the Year award in 2005. After receiving my Licensed Professional Counselor intern license I began working on a government grant providing in-office and in-home counseling to the juvenile justice population and their families to cover a multitude of issues such as substance abuse, oppositional defiance, family conflict, and more. I also provided in-office counseling at Family Service Association to young children who had been sexually abused thru the Childsafe program. In the evenings, I facilitated group therapy for anger management and a support group for single mothers.
In 2007, I completed my 3000 hour internship and received my Licensed Professional Counselor license from the state of Texas. In that same year, I completed additional coursework in order to attain supervisory status as a Licensed Professional Counselor allowing me to supervise Licensed Professional Counselor Interns seeking to become licensed themselves. Through Zeitgeist Wellness Group located in downtown San Antonio, I began providing services to various populations that include individual, couples, families, military, survivors of trauma, and more. My experience working with issues such as depression and anxiety, adjustment disorders, and post-traumatic stress disorder grew quickly and strongly. I also provided assessment, individual and family counseling, and crisis intervention to children in a residential setting for three years during this time. In 2012, I opened my own private practice and have been blessed with the opportunity to provide clients with assistance to create positive changes in their lives. I currently also provide psychological assessments and counseling to patients seeking bariatric surgery. I obtained full certification as a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor starting in February 2015.
